The Fifth Age is one of the nine ages of the world. It is known as the Age of Plague and is the third Age of Ruin. [1]
The transitional point between the Fourth and Fifth Age seems to be the elven civil war. Between the Fifth and Sixth Age it appears to be Vermin Swarm conquering the Avrasi Empire.
Events[]
These are notable events taking place in the Fifth Age, listed (approximately) chronologically:
- The elven colonies in Silexia rebel against the Pearl Throne, at the same time as a revolt is started on Celeda Ablan. This develops into a civil war which where the Republic of Dathen separates from the Arandai Empire. [2] The source does not specify this taking place in the Firth Age, but the World Hymn poem suggests so ("As elf slew elf across the sea")
- The dwarves built the walls of Avras.
- The dwarves reconquer the White Mountains.
- In Avras, the war hero Gaius Dexion and his wife comes to blows with the senate and their champion Tiberian. The conflict evolves into a civil war within the Avrasi Empire. The civil war is ended with the creation of the Vermin Swarm, some say at the hands of Quintus Augustu [3]. The entire empire falls to the Vermin Swarm. [4] The source does not specify this taking place in the Firth Age, but the events appear in botm tapestry and poem of the World Hymn (verses such as: "The empire fell the rats took throne").

The World Hymn is a dwarven carving of a poem that details all the nine ages of the world. It was later copied to an Equitan tapestry and supplemented with imagery. A transcript of the poem and the image for the fifth age are both shown below. [1]
