The Seventh Age is one of the nine ages of the world. It is known as the Age of Thunder [1]. Presumably it is the fifth Age of Ruin.

The transitional point between the Sixth and Seventh Age seems to be the binding of fire by the Eastern Dwarves, given the first lines in the World Hymn for the Seventh Age reading: "With fire enslaved our kin now set to savage foes now weak and spent" [1].
The transitional point between the Seventh Age and the Eight is the creation of the Inferno.

Events[]

These are notable events taking place in the Seventh Age, listed (approximately) chronologically:

  • The Eastern Dwarves start enslaving former foes.
  • The Eastern Dwarves turn to dark sorcery to expand their power. [2]
  • The world is wreaked by storms and earthquakes, as well as an insurgence of Daemons. Some say this was caused by the dark sorcery of the Eastern Dwarves.
  • Gilles de Raux rules over Equitaine, who defends it against he Vermin Swarm, making it one of few places in Vetia not conquered by them. [3]
  • Before the end of the Seventh Age, the Ogres are said to have been united under the rule of Qenghet Khan. This empire was split into five smaller kingdoms. This could have taken place before the Seventh Age, the available sources only detail what happens to the five kingdoms after the creation of the Inferno. [4]
  • The Infernal Dwarves create the Inferno, ushering in the Eighth Age.

Unless otherwise specified, text that green italic in the list above uses the World Hymn poem and tapestry as its source. Or the event itself may have a source that does not list when the event took place, but the World Hymn suggest it took place in this age.

The World Hymn[]

Main article: World Hymn

The World Hymn is a dwarven carving of a poem that details all the nine ages of the world. It was later copied to an Equitan tapestry and supplemented with imagery. A transcript of the poem and the image for the seventh age are both shown below. [1]

BRB 7th Age
7.1[]

With fire enslaved our kin now set
To savage foes now weak and spent
Enslaving all that once had fought
With crushing might but morals less
They scour the world for slaves to get

7.2[]

But magic tests and poisons soul
And even dwarven might is sapp’d
As nether power must be shunn’d
All who dare It become debased
And tear the world and harm it whole

7.3[]

So evil flourished cross the land
With mountain quakes and floods and storms
And daemons came like never hence
To bring us death and rage and scorn
In truth our end does seem at hand

7.4[]

The East remains a place of death
And Vetia vermin conquered
A dark King rules the last free men
And so they live in fear and dread
No place of peace no easy breath

7.5[]

These darken’d days these forlorn nights
This Age of Thunder so did rage
With none to set the wrongs to right
