Cuatl are a rare saurian species. They humanoid, bipedal amphibians with potent magical abilities.

Biology[]

The cuatl have been described as corpulent, mind-reading, amphibian mages.[1] Their minds are focused on spell-craft, with use of magic coming as easily to them as breathing.[2]

It has been believed that the cuatl are immortal beings, though opinions differ. [3]

History[]

In the First Age[4], it is said that the cuatl ruled as overlords over both the other saurian species the whole world.[3]

When the saurian empire fell at the end of the First Age, the cuatl seemingly disappeared.[3] They became myths and legends[3], until they re-emerged at the start of the Eighth Age, around the time of the creation of the inferno.[1]

Where the cuatl disappeared to is unknown, and there are many different theories. Some believe they left the Mortal Realm, crossing the Veil into the Immortal Realm. Others that they simply hid in some secret valley. Some say that they were hunted to near extinction and were forced to go into hiding. [3]
